From Improv to Poetry: Alternative Engagement Programs for Memory Care
The arts offer a non-pharmacological, engagement treatment for people with dementia, improving their quality of life and inspiring the sense that life is still worth living. The Alzheimer’s Poetry Project showcases the benefits of writing, reading, and discussing poetry on residents’ memory and engagement. Learn about the “hope model” of being present and feeling involved through scripted improvisation and its positive impact on memory-impaired residents.
